The Gears of Futurism

The printed word was extremely important to the Futurist movement. Born in the machine age, the design and production of books was extremely significant: the futurists had a fondness for mechanics, speed and the sounds that were created.

The statement piece was created to be a symbol that represents the key characteristics of Futurism. It combines the mechanics of the Tusi Circle, with gears and 3D typography, and features lines from the sound and concrete poem by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti (said to be the father of futurism).
